Mountain Bookshop is committed to providing a clear and secure checkout experience. This Payment Policy explains which online payment methods we accept, how payment authorization works, how payment information is handled, and what happens when a payment fails or a refund is approved.

1. Accepted Payment Methods
For online purchases, Mountain Bookshop accepts:
- PayPal.
- Credit cards processed through the card payment option available at checkout.
The payment methods available for a particular order are displayed during checkout. We may change or limit accepted payment methods when necessary for security, technical, operational, or legal reasons.
2. Currency, Price, and Total Cost
Prices are displayed in U.S. dollars (USD) unless the checkout page clearly states otherwise.
Before you complete your purchase, checkout should display the applicable product price, shipping charge, discounts, and taxes or other charges that apply to the order. Standard shipping is $6.90 USD for qualifying orders with a merchandise subtotal under $99. Orders with a merchandise subtotal of $99 USD or more qualify for free standard shipping, subject to the conditions shown at checkout.
You are responsible for reviewing the order total before selecting the final payment button. If a product price, promotion, or order total contains an obvious typographical or system error, we may contact you to confirm the order or cancel and refund the affected order.
3. Payment Authorization and Order Acceptance
When you submit an order, the selected payment provider may authorize the transaction to confirm that the payment method is valid and available. An authorization is not always the same as final settlement.
An order is not accepted until Mountain Bookshop confirms that the product is available, the payment has been authorized or successfully processed, and the order can be fulfilled. We reserve the right to refuse, limit, or cancel an order when necessary, including where there is a suspected payment error, fraud risk, product unavailability, or obvious pricing error.
If we cancel an order after payment has been taken, we will issue a refund to the original payment method. The time for the refund to appear depends on PayPal, your card issuer, or your financial institution.
4. Declined or Failed Payments
If a payment is declined, cannot be authorized, or fails during checkout, the order may not be completed. You may try another accepted payment method or contact your financial institution.
Mountain Bookshop does not receive or control the private reason for a decline. For payment-security reasons, please do not send full card numbers or security codes to us by email.
5. Payment Security and Privacy
Payment transactions are handled by PayPal or a card payment processor. We do not intend to store full credit card numbers, CVV codes, or full banking credentials on our own systems.
We may receive limited payment-related information, such as payment method type, transaction status, authorization result, and a transaction reference, so that we can fulfil orders, prevent fraud, answer support questions, and process refunds.

6. Fraud Prevention and Order Verification
To protect customers and Mountain Bookshop from unauthorized transactions, we may review orders that appear unusual or high risk. We may contact you to verify order or billing information, delay fulfilment while a review is completed, or cancel and refund an order that cannot be reasonably verified.
We will not ask you to send your full payment card number, CVV code, account password, or other sensitive payment credentials by email.
7. Refunds and Credits

After a return is received and approved, Mountain Bookshop will process the refund within 7 business days. PayPal, your card issuer, or your bank may require additional time before the funds appear in your account.
We do not issue cash refunds for online purchases unless required by applicable law. We cannot send a refund to a different card or payment account unless required by applicable law or agreed with you in writing.
8. Taxes and Shipping Charges
Applicable taxes and shipping charges are presented at checkout when required. Shipping charges are described in our Shipping Policy and may vary if you change the order or destination before payment is completed.
For U.S. orders, any applicable sales tax is determined by the transaction and delivery information available at checkout. We do not promise that every order will be tax-free.
